The Proactive Breast Wellness Program teaching modules were developed for women who wanted to take a more preventive approach to
breast cancer and breast disease. Our early results of the clinical research project has been successfully reversing inflammatory
changes in the breast as observed by thermography scans in a 6-12 month period on this program. Current medical care tends not to
focus on educational programs to help women decrease their risk of cancer, it only treats existing pathology. Our mission is to change
this fundamental lack of education and help women to empower themselves by giving you tools that are included in our Proactive Breast
Wellness Program.
The Proactive Breast Wellness Program is an educational program in English which includes two one hour audio CDs, a
58 MB FREE Data Disc including a large volume of research and reading materials, and a copy of
Waves of Serenity CD/DVD progressive muscle relaxation /guided beach imagery (Sample here)
to reduce cortisol levels,
promote sleep and decrease stress.
Other versions that are available include a program providing Continuing Education Units for Nurses and a
professional breast education module for physicians
that will provide all the printable handouts, teaching materials and information needed that will assist other healthcare providers in
providing a quality teaching program for their patients within their own office.
The Proactive Breast Wellness Program gently leads you through the protocol and educates you about the factors that you can change to
improve your health. The program consists of two one hour audio CDs narrated by Ingrid Edstrom, FNP, M.Ed. that are broken down into
chapters which can be updated and added to as the research changes in the future. Women who purchase the program through this web site
will be able to have a newsletter updates sent to them during the year as new research becomes available or for special offers. The data
disc is broken down into corresponding segments so you can follow along with the narrative and also explore areas of interest in depth.
For the most part allopathic Western medicine has a focus on “treatment” not on prevention, health education or risk reduction. Women are
frightened and frustrated by receiving news that their mammogram or ultrasound are “Borderline or being watched” and they are told to
return in 4-6 months for more studies. They are not told what they can “Do” in the meantime to reduce their risk or even possibly reverse
the issues that may be developing. This program will help worried younger women who have been told that several of their older relatives
have developed breast cancer and they feel that they are simply waiting to become a statistic. Genetics only contributes to about 20% of
your risk of developing breast disease and 80% is affected by things that you can control like eating organic foods, lifestyle choices,
getting your hormones balanced and avoiding hormone disruptors like herbicides/pesticides and plastics in your environment. We are living
in an “Estrogenic soup” of chemicals and hormones that are adversely affecting our health. This program will help empower you to start
making these positive changes for yourself and for the health of your family.
It appears through our research and the work of our academic partners that breast cancer patients have a similar profile: They are usually
all high in estrogen, testosterone and cortisol (from high stress levels and lack of sleep), low in progesterone, low in iodine, are hypothyroid
and have low Vitamin D3 levels. This protocol and list of dietary supplements, diet and environmental changes and hormone balancing will help
women to reduce their risk of breast cancer. The Anti-Estrogenic Diet that is detailed in the Proactive Breast Wellness Program will help you
to identify foods and nutritional supplements that help to lower your risk and other foods that increase activity in the breast. This is the
same protocol that we have been using in our clinical research program which has been reversing inflammatory changes in the breast in the
course of 6-12 months if the woman makes an effort to make the changes in lifestyle and diet. There are materials about how to get your
hormones tested. See the LINK section in the Store to order saliva test kits from ZRT Labs. Where to find a compounding pharmacy near you
as well as a health care provider who is familiar with working with Bio-Identical Hormone replacement through Women’s International Pharmacy.
There are multiple book lists on perimenopause and menopause and bio-identical hormones and supplement support during this time of change.
There are links to find a certified Infrared camera center in your area and hopefully there will be more centers in the next few years.
The Waves of Serenity CD/ DVD was created by Ingrid Edstrom FNP, M.Ed. as a companion product for her upcoming book "Help your Family
Cope With Hospitalization, Surgery and Cancer Therapy Using Mind Body Approaches". You can go to her other website at
InnerJourneysHealing.com to experience a sound clip and video sample then you can choose to have a CD or a DVD sent to
you as part of the program to decrease cortisol, stress and insomnia. The Waves of Serenity narrative was created for people
who did not have any previous exposure to meditation techniques but were facing surgery, chemotherapy or recovering at home
and wanted a way to decrease pain and stress or to be able to get to sleep easier.
High levels of estrogen affect many diseases including fibrocystic breast disease, ovarian cysts and premenstrual syndrome or PMS.
The liver is important in breaking estrogen down into an almost totally impotent form. It also converts estrogen into compounds that can
be excreted from the body through urine and bile. The purpose of this diet is to support the liver, to reduce sources of estrogen found
in foods and to support other glands such as the adrenal glands and the thyroid gland that influences estrogen levels in the body.
Lymphatic drainage is also very beneficial. Avoid wearing under wire bras and tight clothing that restrict the movement of lymph.
Antiperspirants that prevent your body from sweating and releasing toxins is harmful, particularly if the product has aluminum in it.
Kimby Maxson, Licensed Massage Therapist and specializes in Lymph Drainage Therapy has been an excellence source to women on their
breast health. Kimby is also a Midwife and for years ran a Nonprofit connected with the Willamette Cancer Center and she saw a large
number of the women with lymphadema post mastectomy surgery. To contact Kimby Maxson please call 541.729.8834

Plastics, herbicides, rodenticides and pesticides are a major problem because they are Xenoestrogens/ estrogen mimickers, and chemically
they appear similar to your own your body’s natural estrogen and they bond with your receptor sites and are stored in a woman’s fat tissues.
These receptors sites are in our breasts and as we become middle aged many women start gaining weight around the middle of our bodies and
decrease our activity levels. Breast cancer is for the most part an estrogen dominant problem and
since we live in an “Estrogenic soup”. What ever we can do to decrease our estrogen load will improve our situation and health. This environmental and
dietary estrogen has increased the prostate cancer rates in our men and the early breast development in our little girls. Girls used to develop breasts
at age 12 or 13, now they are fully breasted at 8 or 9 and their periods are starting earlier than all other generations before them. Our grandmothers
in the 1940’s and 50s had simpler foods, cooked from “scratch”, nothing was pre-processed, many had organic gardens and did not have plastics or had to
deal with as many chemicals in the environment. They also did not have synthetic Hormone Replacement Therapy or birth control pills. The breast cancer rate back then was 1 in 28,
some third world non-industrial countries like Pakistan have a 1/35 rate. Perhaps there is some very valuable wisdom that we can now benefit from. Young
men who take jobs as landscapers and who are exposed to sprays/ chemicals are finding that their sperm counts are lower and they may have difficulty having
children later in life. Trying to be more aware and learn to take action to avoid more of the estrogen mimickers that we may be using in our homes, consuming
or using as body products will help us lessen our risk and improve the health of our families. Becoming more active in your community and also politically
to have companies that are polluting our environment stop doing so would seem to be an excellent course of action. See the links section for ways to become
more active by joining the Breast Cancer Action group or other environmental groups. If that all sounds too overwhelming to become politically active, then
perhaps “acting locally and thinking globally” and start by decreasing these chemicals in your own home and environment is a great start.
